The Power of You ...

Quick mid-week story for you tonight ...

My 6 year old has talked frequently about a girl she knows. She always mentions how she can't wait to see her. How great she is. How much she loves her.

She doesn't even really know her. They haven't actually spent much time together. But Carsyn loves her so big.

So today for the first time I asked her why she loves seeing Jessica so much. She quickly hit me back with the most simple, yet profound answer ...

'Because every time she sees me she smiles so big and she always says hi to me! She's so nice to me mom! I love seeing her ... I just love her!'

And I thought, isn't that it?? Isn't that a secret in life? Carsyn doesn't even really know this girl, but she loves her. Because every time they see each other, this girl makes Carsyn feel like she's the only one in the room.

How you make people feel is everything.

And do you realize how easy it is to smile, look someone in the eyes and genuinely be happy to see them?!

How many times are we too busy for this? Too busy staring at our phones? Too preoccupied in our heads?

I think we forget how much power we have as human beings. We forget the power we have to change someone else's world. We forget the power of our one life.

We either forget or else we sadly just don't believe its true.

So tonight I want to remind you of 2 things ...

#1 ... You are powerful. You can change the world. As a matter of fact, you were created to do just that.

Your life is powerful. Your words, your actions, your smile ... all of who you are is infused with power. The power to make everything and everyone you come in contact with better. The power to add value to every person, every circumstance and every situation you encounter. Don't forget how powerful you are.

#2 ... Every day you have the opportunity to infuse someone with this power you carry.

Every day you can encourage someone. Every day you can empower someone. Every day you can make someone feel like they are the only person in the room. Every single day you have the time to give someone the time. Because it only takes a moment to stop and make someone feel valued.

Changing the world starts with just one person believing they are powerful enough to add something valuable and lasting every place they go and with every person they meet. Changing the world starts with one person choosing to be intentional in their encounters with others. Changing the world starts with one person stopping for one person.

Changing the world starts with one person ... you.

'People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.'
